Does that come with cheese?

Do you like cheddar cheese for breakfast? Melted gruyere grilled cheese sandwich for lunch? How about baked brie for dinner? And then there's that lovely dessert cheese...! Is mozzarella your favorite mid-day snack, or do you prefer roquefort after midnight?
How much cheese do we actually eat in a given day or week? It seems to add great taste to almost anything. To find out, we asked our readers.
How much cheese do you eat in a week?
Strah9 from Boston claims to eat cheese, "at most meals." Ladylilikins from Boston answers her cheese question saying, "enough to eat it daily." Taryn from Atlanta says, "I probably eat cheese every day, but to be safe I'll say 5-6 times a week. Often it's simple like freshly grated parmesan over spaghetti, like last night, but I also usually have some dill havarti or port wine cheddar in the fridge to pair with crackers or fruit."
Based on these three perhaps representative sample responses, it seems appropriate to say that your average American may eat cheese nearly everyday. This seems to jive relatively well with my own cheese-eating habits. There was some lovely fresh mozzarella on the slice of pizza I just ate for lunch, for instance. I didn't go out and buy cheese specifically, but it was there (and it made the pizza delicious!).
So I guess the thing with eating cheese is that cheese really is everywhere. It adds flavor, texture, and even protein to so many of the things we eat on a regular basis. What's a hamburger without a little cheese? Or a cobb salad with no blue cheese? Or a breakfast sandwich, or tacos?
The fact that cheese is a primary source of yummy flavor on so many foods was even more obvious to me when I was little. Up until age 12 I was severely allergic to milk. As such, I had to watch out for dairy products in all their forms. I was the kid who peeled the cheese off her pizza! And I know quite well just how many things contain cheese!
Of course, now that I CAN have cheese, I've become a life-long fan! And while we may often eat cheese daily (keeping our taste buds happy), as with everything, moderation is the key. Don't skip out on the cheese, just be sure to sprinkle it over that healthy salad!
Next week we wonder, "What's the best thing to eat cheese with (ie. crackers, bread, fruit, ice cream...)?"
